Vista slash fest

I just wish Microsoft would just sell one version of vista for $99 and be done with it. It takes several hours of sifting press releases and system requirements to understand what Vista Home Ultimate has and Vista Home Basic lacks. At least this 20 percent price cut is a step in the right direction toward a reasonable price. However, in true Microsoft fashion even the price cuts take some study.

So if this tech is doable why has google not launched 100 of these things to cover the US and stick the middle digit to big telcos? Come on 150 Mbps down and 6 Mbps up is definatly worth $40 / mo. I for one welcome our new satellite overlords.

So what do you do when you need a server with 32 GB of ram and only have $1,600 dollars? You build a controller that lets you use 32 cheap 1GB sticks of DRAM. Or at least create a startup that claims to do it. Thats what Fred Weber, a former chief technology officer at AMD did.
