The Link Scanner is called AVG Safe Search in the Firefox/Tools/Add-Ons menu. You will undoubtedly find the the AVG safe Search add-on offers the ability for you to disable it but not uninstall it. This is not good behavior IMHO. So how do we toss AVG Safe Search from FireFox?
One of two ways
#1 save the AVG Free installation file directly to disk C:\
* open menu Start -> Run
c:\avg_free_stf_*.exe /REMOVE_FEATURE fea_AVG_SafeSurf /REMOVE_FEATURE fea_AVG_SafeSearch
*The installation will be started, and AVG will be installed without the LinkScanner component.
* open menu Start -> Run
* navigate to:
* find key labled:
* delete it.
Just download and run this avg-firefox-safesearch-removal.reg file.
DONE! AVG Safe Search is now gone from FireFox, and I am now happy. Hope it was useful for you.
Q: I going to install some memory into my PC. I already purchased the correct RAM and can handle the physical install. I want to know if there is any thing else in windows I need to do.
A: You may see a BIOS error saying that the amount of memory has change. This is normal. Just save the changes and allow the PC to reboot. Once windows has booted check that windows is recognizing your newly added RAM. Click the Start menu and select Run. Type in “sysdm.cpl” in the run dialog box and press enter. If it has recognizing your new memory congratulations your done.
Q: When I print a webpage words on the right hand side are cut off and printed on a second page. It only happens in Firefox and only on certain pages
A: I think scaling is your issue. No, not fish scaling. Page scaling. Scaling is a way to tell the Firefox to shrink what’s being printed so that it actually fits on one page. Simple right.
Click on the File menu, and then Page Setup.
then click on the Shrink To Fit Page Width option
Q: I´m just new with pc´s.My technical English is very short.I hope you can help me.These are ad infections and one supposed Vundo infection. Can you help?
I have detected this in AVG:
C:\\WINNT\\system32\\gebyxvt.dll -> Adware.Virtumonde : Omitidos.
C:\\WINNT\\system32\\tuvvwxv.dll -> Adware.Virtumonde : Omitidos.
C:\\WINNT\\system32\\xxyyaab.dll -> Adware.Virtumonde : Omitidos.
Heuristic.Win32.Morphine-Crypted : Omitidos.
A: Sorry to hear about your sick pc. Fortunately I might know the fix. Symantec Security Response has developed a removal tool for Adware.VirtuMonde. Use this removal tool first, as it is the easiest way to remove this risk.
The tool can be found here:
Double-click FxVMonde.exe to run it.
If FxVMonde.exe does not work you can try a different tool VundoFix.exe
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it’s done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files,
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing
When completed, it will show a prompt to reboot your computer,
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above
instructions starting from “Click the Scan for Vundo button.” when
VundoFix appears at reboot.
Q: I have XP Pro and need to login under the administrator account. I don’t want to change the default login selection screen or reboot to safe mode. How can I bring up the login dialog box on demand?
A: This is a fairly specific question and deserves a specific answer. At the default login selection press and hold “ctrl” + “alt” keys at the same time tap “del” twice. This will bring up the login dialog box you are looking for.
Although, this keyboard command will bring up the login dialog box in XP home you will not be able to login under the Administrator account except while in safe mode.
